Military Disability Navigator is an independent educational navigation platform for service members, Veterans, retirees, caregivers, survivors, and families moving through military disability, VA benefits, retirement, separation, and transition.
Why MDN exists
The information people need is spread across DoD, the military departments, VA, DFAS, TRICARE, federal agencies, states, and professional support systems. MDN is being built to connect those systems around the user's actual situation and make the next step understandable.
Who is building it
MDN began after a medically retired Marine Veteran went through the transition and disability system firsthand and saw how often people had to piece together answers across agencies, acronyms, websites, notices, and separate benefit programs. That experience informs the problem MDN is trying to solve, but personal experience does not replace official authority, professional judgment, or current source verification.
Free website + optional private tools
The public website is the free front door for education, discovery, lifecycle navigation, resources, and official-source routing. A website-native Free Navigator helps users find their starting point without leaving the site. Separate private MDN tools remain available when someone wants deeper browser-based organization.
Privacy by design
The current tools require no account, do not accept medical-record uploads, do not use advertising or session replay, and do not create a central personal-case database. Optional saved Process Navigator progress is designed to remain encrypted on the user's device.
Privacy-safe analytics
The public website uses first-party site analytics and performance measurement for basic traffic and site-speed information. Free Navigator selections and private case answers are not sent to analytics.
How MDN handles sources
MDN is designed around an official-source-first standard. DoD, the military departments, VA, DFAS, TRICARE, federal statutes and regulations, state agencies, and other responsible official sources form the baseline for factual program information.
As the knowledge layer grows, topic pages should identify the controlling or primary official source, show when that topic was reviewed, and make it easy for the user to verify the information directly. MDN should not imply that one review date applies to every topic.

The boundary
MDN provides educational navigation and organization. It does not act as a VA-accredited representative, lawyer, clinician, PEBLO, or government decision-maker. Official notices, decisions, deadlines, and qualified professionals control.
Why public beta
The Founding Public Beta is intentionally open to real users who can challenge the workflows, identify missing situations, find accessibility or browser problems, and surface benefits or process gaps. Product feedback should never include SSNs, DoD IDs, VA claim numbers, addresses, medical records, or other private case identifiers.
